Yet another diet/weight loss scammer has launched this latest project, and it's a killer.
We found this one on Facebook as a paid advertisement, and the subject who offered the details of her experience found them there as well.
It starts as most of them do; Flashy graphics and a link to an official-looking "Women's Health magazine" article stating that Garcinia is the latest diet breakthrough that all the Hollywood elite are keeping a secret...from you.
Of course; The magazine is a fake, the article is pure fiction, and the product is yet another attempt to tap into the multi-billion dollar diet market.
Back to the offer...
For a mere $5 your FREE trial will begin immediately, and you will receive not 1 but 2 bottles of the latest snake-oil and dried herbs, yours to try for 15 days.
...and this is where most fish tend to swallow the hook.
Before I go any further, let me say first that it is common knowledge among all marketers that: NO ONE Reads the TERMS.
This ad and the scam it promotes is based in that fact.
The tiny link at the bottom of the page will take you to a page that explains, quite clearly, that acceptance of the package will initiate you monthly shipments of 2 more bottles, starting in 15 days.
Here's the best part: This product is being sold for $100 Per Bottle!
* If you open it upon arrival (Free trial neans you get to try it, right?), you own it.
In exactly 15 days your credit card will take a $200 hit, and you agreed to accept this when you opened the bottle to try it.
Obviously, this scam is not intended to last more than 30 days.
Who in their right mind will pay $200 for a questionable product that I found on Amazon for under $15?
*Google it yourself: Garcinia
The prices start at under ten dollars for 60 caps @ 500mg doses.
* The ad states that you will receive a 2-month supply of 1000mg capsules, but what they shipped was half that strength, 500mg. I found a few sources of these in the $7-8 range.
These scams work. That's why they keep coming back.
Most people will scream, plead and cry for their money back...but if only 20% "take it on the chin" and just pay to make it go away, the scammer is still raking in a truck-load of cash before sneaking away to plan his next score.
READ the TERMS. READ the Terms.
FREE is a powerful marketing tool, and the scammer's best friend.
...but Free always has a price, you just have to look a bit deeper to find what that is.
The TERMS link is a good place to start.
