First and foremost: Endicia has passed every single test for efficiency, ease-of-use, and smooth blending of the complex issues involved with the correlation of buying & using postage, and applying this to shipping labels.
We highly recommend Endicia.com as a shipping solution.
The reason this partnership was brought to my attention was multiple complaints from small business owners over the fact that Endicia had recently changed their policy with regard to the free services offered to Labelwriter owners.
Believing that they would be able to buy postage from Endicia without monthly fees, many people (over 2 million, in fact) invested in the Dymo Labelwriter series of printers, which start at $100.
That was the deal they were offered; Endicia charges a small monthly fee for their postage service, but they will waive that fee for Labelwriter owners.
Not too long ago, Endicia re-wrote their terms to include a free trial for Labelwriter owners (200 labels), and then a small monthly (about $10) thereafter.
Not too surprisingly, Labelwriters were flooded to Ebay by disgusted business owners who believe the whole thing was a partnership-scam to sell printers for Endicia's business partner.
Conspiracy theories aside; the Labelwriter is a great printer and a valuable business tool, and I love my 450 Twin (about $200).
The fact that I can stock-up on labels at a bargain because so many owners made an emotional decision doesn't hurt either.
Now for the reason for this post: Dymo Labelwriters rely on a piece of proprietary software that has all but driven me nuts trying to make it work.
It won't load for days at a time, and when it does boot up, it freezes and fails minutes later.
I went to the Dymo site for help, and the first thing I did was upgrade...then upgraded again...and it still won't load on my custom Win7 machine.
So, I tried asking for help here: www.dymo.com/en-US/online-support/online-support-contact-us
This (the only) help page offers a form to fill out, and once done you hit "Submit" and are promptly taken to the "Page Does Not Exist" 404 Error page.
In other words, there is no help available.
So, at this time, I have a great printer, and a stockpile of labels...but I can't use them.
...and I am no longer surprised by the number of brand new Dymo Labelwriters on Ebay.
