The largest asset manager in the world, Guiovanni Onate, is working on the creation of a Mexican index focused on some environmental criteria.
Currently it is not known whether it will be listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange or the Institutional Stock Exchange.
Onate, director of institutional business at BlackRock Chile Mobile Number List Mexico , says that the construction of the index with environmental, social and corporate governance characteristics is in an early stage; although they have already had contact with investors, Afores and authorities in the country.
This is a new index with an environmental, social and government focus, which will be based on its own methodology. The number of companies that could integrate it is between 25 and 40.
It is still very early, but we are working so that, together with the Afores and the government, we can create a local sustainable index and raise the standard in the country.

For her part, Jessica Huang, director of the Strategy and Innovation platform in the Americas and Asia Pacific in BlackRock's Sustainable Investment team, says that companies in charge of improving their carbon footprint globally have better performance in the stock exchanges.
In addition, he mentions that investors are not only interested in financial results to invest in these companies, they also give greater focus to social, environmental and corporate governance criteria.
According to Huang, "ESG data is believed to be helping investors better value intangible assets because it can provide insight into a company's reputation, its relationship with employees and customers, and its care for human talent." ยป.
Mexico, according to her, is a country well positioned to be a leader in investments in social, government and environmental criteria in Latin America.
When it comes to sustainable investing, investors are adopting best practices.
"In November 2018, the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System - the regulatory body for Afores - requested to reveal environmental, social and governance criteria in investment prospectuses ," said Huang.
In Mexico there are 10 institutional investors of Principles for Responsible Investmen, a non-governmental organization that promotes sustainability strategies in the world, under the support of the United Nations.
Sustainable BlackRock
With nearly $6 trillion in assets, BlackRock is considered the largest asset management company and one of the most powerful investors in the world.
It manages a sum of capital that exceeds the market capitalization of all stock exchanges.
In recent years, BlackRock has introduced a variety of new sustainability products, both actively managed portfolios and passively managed indices.
The company has made clear that managing issues such as climate change and diversity create business value.
They are also increasing their attention to sustainability across the board, from their processes to the investment solutions they offer.
" There is growing recognition that this field presents a largely untapped source of information that could identify investment risks and generate excess returns."
At the same time, data is poor: rating methodologies differ, and investors need to gain greater clarity on the pitfalls of this emerging field.
There are three key themes that drive the transformation in sustainable investing:
The objective of creating sustainable portfolios and strategies that do not compromise financial returns.
The effort to use innovative analysis to go beyond global ESG scores.
The integration of sustainability-related issues into traditional investment strategies.
