My Points members have no doubt seen an email pushing this service, although they're slippery with the promotion...and even moreso with the page design.
The email uses a subject similar to," Fill out our short survey, and receive a Free $10 gas award and 400 Points!".
The survey is a short and silly lead-in to the service they're hoping you will inadvertantly signup for...and the first clue that something is amiss is the last survey segment, asking you to "register" a creditcard.
Reservation Rewards is yet another Membership Discounts Coupon Club, but you have to ignore the obvious "survey" (the Only reason you came) and actually read the page...The truth is hanging at the bottom, where they add just 1 line in the Last paragraph stating that the membership will cost you $7/month, and you actually receive NOTHING in return but the right to return to their site and print coupons.
Got the math screaming in Your head, too?
EIGHTY FOUR DOLLARS A YEAR for Permission to visit a website!??!
And for What?
To add an extra step to your travel plans? Like they're not complicated enough... They offer NOTHING that you can't find for Free by doing a Yahoo or Google search for "discounts".
...
Sorry to rant.
These membership clubs have become a new irritation for me; They seem to be getting worse as the web gets larger, and the latest batch are just selling access to free search results.
We've been printing these discount coupons for years, and I bored with it 5 years ago...just wasn't worth the hassle.
Worse yet, I like the MyPoints program and have been a member since their first year online...As a promotion tool they can't be beat, and as a member the points deal is cool; but I won't be opening their emails for a while, if ever again...
They really hurt my trust with this promo.
Copied from the fine print:
Reservation Rewards is owned and operated by webloyalty.com.
Thanx for your time,
