This is a pet project of Pop's.

The Church of Web Redemption, or any of the numerous name combos, is simply a charity-drive targeted at any and all who may feel the need to redeem themselves.
Utilizing direct marketing techniques, the Church of Web Redemption employs an In Your Face approach to collect funds for many very deserving charity-based organizations.
Pop's favorites are always in need, and we can never give enough to make a dent in this need...so we have adopted a few of the agressive marketing techniques that many feel are un-suitable for a charity.
Pop however, is not restricted by public opinions with regard to techniques employed to raise funds, and we have therefore opted to "Go Guerilla" on behalf of those many fine organizations who wish they could.
The following is a current list of Pop's favorite charity organizations:
The Kennedy Kreiger institute
> World famous children's research hospital
Tsunami Relief Fund
> A recent addition to the list, and in dire need of funds to ease the burdens of countless homeless and hungry.
National Cancer foundation
> Still a priority in this country. The NCF distributes funds to deserving private research facilities.
United Servicemans Organization
> The USO is, and has always been, the primary force behind the morale of US soldiers.
Christian Children's Fund
> The CCF is another 98% fund-raiser* with a solid reputation. CCF has also recently become very active in the Tsunami Relief effort.
*A 98% organization, such as the Christian Children's Fund, The USO, and the National Cancer Foundation, operate their entire fund-raising efforts on less than 3% of collected funds, and distribute over 97% of every dollar collected to the intended charities.
This is a rarely-accomplished target range, and a respectable feat for those few that can make it work.
**The Tsunami Fund is new, and no stats are available as yet.

*****The United Way is NOT on this list, and you can save your complaints for someone who cares to listen.
The UW is NOT a charity, but a business whose sole market is fund raising.
They use many nationally-respected charities' names to perform this function...but they are NOT a charity themselves...more to the point, they are a cleverly-disguised profit machine that shares a very small portion of the profits with a few worthy causes.
Many years of poor Gross collections-to-Actual payments ratios has kept the UW off of my favorites list.
Their operation expenses are far too heavy to justify calling them a "charity"...They are, judging by their operating budgets, a business.
At last audit, less than 20 cents from every dollar collected actually went to the intended charities.
Recent indictments of upper-level admins on fraud and misappropriaton charges hasn't done much to bolster confidence in this business, either.
Many actual charities have denounced the United Way as a farce and a scam, based on the above-mentioned facts...and insist that you make your donations directly to the charity of your choice.
