Bank Employees Stole, then Sold Customer Data
Police say that employees at banks including Bank of America and Wachovia pilfered the personal identity data of as many as 500,000 bank customers and sold the information to brokers who in turn sold it to bill collectors.
Most at risk were the records of customers in New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Pennsylvania, investigators said.
Ten arrests have been made so far.
