The leader of the pack H&R Block, is up to it's collective neck in class-action lawsuits based on these loans.
Consumers are duped into paying extreme fees for this mini-loan of 100%, while some alledge that they paid 1700% and more in interest fees...and the most common complaint is the lack of disclosure regarding the fees being charged.
OK; Americans are an impatient lot, we all must acknowledge this...but that doesn't justify what the feds are calling predatory lending practices...and bear in mind that these tax preparers are the very same people you hire each season to Protect Your Interests...and they're stealing from you with this scam designed to capitalize on your impatience.
You trust them to keep you out of jail...and they are bending and even breaking the law over your head!
Your refund will arrive in 2 weeks or less...Many checks have returned within a week. Keep your hard-earned money where it belongs.
If I offered you $200, and all you had to do was wait a week to receive it, wouldn't you take it? Keep that extra money to yourself...after waiting 12 months, what's another week?
***BTW: Steer clear of any tax preparer who charges fat, extra fees for e-filing. This service is free thru the IRS website, and any trustworthy preparer will pass this savings on to you. Some charge a small (under $10) fee, which is OK...it covers the few minutes they spend on the chore.
