Having picked up this external drive over 3 years ago, and considering that it has been faithfully holding over two thousand photos since that day, it would be unfair to call it anything but a good investment. Easy to setup, and the 2-click storage & backup process makes it a nice semi-auto backup drive.
The reason for this rant is the fact that yesterday, without any warning or notifications, it simply DELETED ITSELF AND THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS! Running a photography business means that I need easy access to my immense stock of photos, and this particular drive (my first of four) was entrusted with holding not just hundreds of photosession shots, but many irreplacable baby photos of the grandchildren as well.
Saying that I was irritated is putting it mildly. Now, I don't trust it with much more than backing-up my music collection...and I still haven't figured out what exactly went wrong. The software has been getting a bit buggy lately, and that may be the first clue, but to be honest I don't have enough interest in digging any further.
Like I said; I have a few larger and more recent drives that hold the real money-makers, and this experience taught me to double-backup the more valuable files to thumbdrives.
So, this is mainly just a rant.
